Some University offices are authorized to place registration holds on student records.  College offices such as the Bursar, Police Services, and University Libraries, place financial holds.  Placement of a hold immediately prevents the students from adding courses for the current and future semesters.  The student continues to be permitted to drop courses.  The student is notified by e-mail that a hold has been placed.  The e-mail will include the University office that placed the hold and instructions to contact that office.  Students may find information about their holds in eLion.
