Mont Alto THON Group Raises $79,620
Congratulations to Penn State Mont Alto’s THON group for raising $79,620 this year—up from $33,000 in 2012-2013. This places Mont Alto second among the 19 Commonwealth campuses. Altoona was first with $91,413. Overall, the total raised for THON 2014 to fight pediatric cancer is $13,343,517.33.
Mont Alto sent 80 supporters and two dancers—Austyn Leib ’14 and Alex Erdman ’16—to the IFC/PanHellenic Dance Marathon on Feb. 21-23 at University Park. Leib and Erdman began dancing at 6 p.m. on Friday and completed all 46 hours. The group joined more than 700 students and tens of thousands of spectators at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center to support the dancers and the Four Diamonds Families in attendance.
Members of the THON team are passionate about their efforts. “Life, laughter, HOPE, is instilled in every person who is affiliated with THON and the Hershey Medical Center,” said Leib. “I strive every day to find new ways to bring joy and hope to those who have lost it.”
Erdman, said THON has been a big part of his life this year and, “So far, it has been life changing.”
THON’s theme this year was “Redefine The Possibilities!” More than 15,000 student volunteers and 700 dancers have raised more than $114,343,517 million, benefiting The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital. Find more information about THON at www.thon.org.
